Tired of being shadow banned??
I am pretty sure most of us have been shadow banned over the past several months, specifically if you are an artist. This seems to be something that is plaguing the art community, and I am tired of myself and many others getting banned. We are all here trying to build and it is becoming increasingly difficult to do so when you have to constantly worry about getting shadow banned. The frustration of personally dealing with this has lead me to try and figure out why this has became a trend among Twitter users. After going down the rabbit hole I have came to the conclusion that there is two main things causing the banning epidemic. The first reason is being robotic and the second reason is being hostile or aggressive. We will dive into each one of these reasons more in-depth below.
Twitter just went through a major bot removal overhaul, which leads me to a safe assumption that the Twitter algorithm is not bot friendly. Being robotic and posting the same tweet, image, emoji, etc. over and over again is a sure way to get banned quickly. It honestly doesn’t take much either, both times that I purposely posted the same content repeatedly to see what happens, I got shadow banned within a couple days of posting the content. In my opinion this is by far the number one reason that many Twitter users are getting banned.
Think about the content you share. Its the same piece of art that you’re trying to sell, its the favorite emoji of yours that you use all the time, its informational content but posted in the same format every time. Many of the actions that we do daily are very repetitive and seem very robotic.
My solution to this problem has been to make a conscious effort to post different content. Some ideas that I have been doing is making videos, using info graphics, different wording and emojis than I have in the past. I have been doing this for a month now and have had great success rotating the style of content I am using.
The second reason is for being hostile or aggressive. Twitter wants to be a place of peace and love. Consistent aggressive or hostile tweets will often lead to getting shadow banned. Something as simple as talking about burning a piece of art for a couple days straight is enough to get you banned. I know this is true because it personally happened to me a couple of months back.
My solution has been to cut out talking about burning pieces of art for an extended period of time. Beyond that I always try to spread love and gratitude all the time, but if you are not a person who does then I would definitely try sprinkling in some love throughout your tweets.
