Good afternoon Creative Culture family and welcome to this weeks edition of Creative Culture Corner. We have a great issue for you this week as we dive into the world of cubism. Cubism is one of my personal favorite artistic styles for two reasons, first of all, cubism is my original personal style of art and I still create in the cubism style today. I love the idea of breaking something into different angles and views, giving the viewer different perspectives on a 2D surface. We also have my artist spotlight featuring the talented Aqueous_WC, my thought of the week, and featured thread of the week. I appreciate your support and enjoy this edition.

Shattering the Conventional Perspective a Dive Into Cubism:

At first glance, the chaos and fragmentation might be baffling. Yet, delve a little deeper, and the world of Cubism unfolds – an art form that defied tradition and revolutionized our perceptions. This artistic rebellion was not only groundbreaking and daring but also paved the way for countless modern art movements.

1. The Birth of Cubism

At the dawn of the 20th century, a new artistic current emerged. Spearheaded by the visionary duo, Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, Cubism rejected the traditional single-point perspective. Instead, they opted for an audacious new approach. Their artistic adventure yielded a novel style, portraying subjects from numerous angles simultaneously. The result was a new perception of reality, deconstructed and reassembled, forming the cornerstone of Cubism.

2. Analytic and Synthetic: The Two Phases

Cubism's evolution has a distinct dichotomy: Analytic and Synthetic phases. The early stage, Analytic Cubism, deconstructed objects into geometric forms, painting them in subdued, almost monochromatic hues. A shift occurred with Synthetic Cubism, incorporating collage elements and adopting brighter colors. This phase welcomed diverse materials like newspapers and fabric into the realm of fine art, signifying Cubism's transition from abstraction towards a playful exploration of form and color.

3. Cubism's Philosophical Foundations

Cubism wasn’t merely an aesthetic revolution. It had far-reaching philosophical implications that echoed significant paradigm shifts in science and philosophy. The multi-perspective approach paralleled Einstein's relativity theory and an increasing appreciation for non-Eurocentric cultures. By presenting objects from numerous viewpoints, Cubism posed profound questions about reality. It suggested that our world perception is fragmented and subjective, not fixed or absolute.

4. Impact on Modern Art Movements

Cubism's influence permeates far beyond Picasso's and Braque's canvases. By dismantling traditional perspective, it shattered the status quo and laid the foundation for numerous modern art movements. Whether it’s Futurism's fascination with speed and technology or Surrealism's exploration of the subconscious, the reverberations of Cubism are still felt in 20th-century art. Contemporary artists continue to draw inspiration from Cubism, underscoring its enduring influence.

5. How to Appreciate Cubism

To the uninitiated, appreciating Cubism can seem daunting. It requires a mental shift. Cubism isn't about portraying the world as we see it but as we understand it. A Cubist work invites you to solve a visual puzzle where each fragment offers a clue to the broader image. Engage with it, question it, and let your gaze traverse the canvas, following the geometric shapes and interwoven planes' rhythm.

In conclusion, Cubism is a potent art movement that revolutionized our world perception. It uses visual language to express the complexities and nuances of our experiences. So, the next time you find yourself before a Cubist painting, pause and appreciate its audacious beauty. It may offer you a fresh lens to view the world.

Artist Spotlight - Aqueous_WC:

Hailing from the East Coast, just two hours from NYC, Aqueous worked as an art director and graphic designer, backed by a degree in fine arts. The Covid lockdown rekindled Aqueous's love for painting after a long hiatus, leading to the creation of pet portraits for income during the pandemic. However, as life normalized post-lockdown, professional and familial commitments took precedence.

In the summer of 2021, after enduring years of mental abuse, Aqueous bravely chose to end a 23-year marriage. Amidst the ensuing financial struggles as a single parent, Aqueous discovered NFTs, piqued by a friend's involvement in cryptocurrency.

In October 2021, Aqueous started selling lockdown-era watercolors on Opensea, navigating the unfamiliar world of NFTs. Despite initial missteps, Aqueous persistently engaged with the community, eventually switching to creating digital art pieces combining watercolors, photography, and digital painting.

The market crash proved to be a hurdle, but Aqueous made a first sale in January 2022, quickly followed by several more. This success allowed for an investment in an iPad, broadening creative capabilities and enabling work from anywhere.

Today, Aqueous is grateful for the connections made and the global recognition received. The NFT space has served as an outlet during a challenging personal period and has reignited a creative spirit. Even though Aqueous's mother doesn't fully understand the technology, she recognizes its therapeutic value. Aqueous takes pride in these achievements and looks forward to what lies ahead in this new creative frontier.

To unlock Twitter's potential, build meaningful relationships through authentic engagement, consistent interaction, targeted use of Twitter Lists, and considerate Direct Messages. Engage genuinely by commenting thoughtfully and showing interest. Building Twitter relationships requires regular interaction and involvement in relevant discussions.
